from small town services to island wide protection

Coastal Animal Services, formerly known as Cowichan Animal was established in 1974 by Dan Hughes, where full boarding and animal bylaw services were offered. In 2008, the animal shelter was taken over by Trevor and Sue Hughes who began expanding their services to areas such as Lake Cowichan, Ladysmith and Cobble Hill. In the years to come, Cowichan Animal became Coastal Animal Services, with kennel facilities in Duncan, Nanaimo and Campbell River.
