Our after-hours emergency line is restricted for emergencies only, which include dangerous dog attacks to both humans and other animals, dogs struck by a motor vehicle with acute injuries which require immediate transport to an emergency veterinary clinic, and RCMP matters concerning arrests, the Mental Health Act, and dogs trapped in motor vehicles during accidents, or pulled from house fires by the fire department.

A lost dog found by a concerned citizen after-hours is not considered an emergency situation in which an Animal Control Officer is required to attend. If you find a dog after-hours and make the decision to take it home, provisions should be made for keeping the dog until our next business day, if an owner cannot be found through social media posts.

REGIONAL DISTRICT OF NANAIMO – ALL ELECTORAL AREAS

Please note: The Parksville SPCA does not receive stray dogs from the Regional District of Nanaimo.

All stray dogs from the RDN Electoral Areas are handled by our Animal Control Officers and kennelled at our Duncan Branch until reunited with their owners. Please call within business hours if a stray dog is encountered and needs to be picked up by an Officer. Upon fees being paid, an Officer can deliver your dog back home the next business day.

CITY OF PORT ALBERNI

Please note: The Port Alberni SPCA does not receive stray dogs from within the City of Port Alberni.

All stray dogs from the CPA are handled by our Animal Control Officers and kennelled at our Duncan Branch until reunited with their owners. Please call within business hours if a stray dog is encountered and needs to be picked up by an Officer. Upon fees being paid, an Officer can deliver your dog back home the next business day.
